About

I work as a Postdoctoral Scientist in the Department of Heath Policy and Management at Columbia University in New York City. I am working on a variety of cool projects on cost-effectiveness of social and preventive policies in public health. Beside economic evaluation, another area of my research these days it to quantify what the trends of despair over time would tell us about inequalities in mortality in the US.

Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Health Economics & Outcomes Research at the center for Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluations (CORE), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. I obtained my PhD in Health Economic & Outcomes Research from Department of Medicine at UBC in 2016. My thesis mainly focused on development of cool Mathematical/Statistical models to address major clinical issues in respiratory medicine. I got my M.Sc in Mathematics from UBC in 2012, and my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic University in 2010.

Prior to that, I was working as a mathematical modeler and data scientist affiliated with the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation (C2E2), Vancouver, Canada, from June 2014-July 2016. Before that (from June 2012-June 2014), I was working as a health economist/epidemiologist for CORE, Vancouver, Canada.

My research activities span a wide range of applied and theoretical topics in health economics, outcomes research, and health policy including developing advanced cohort/micro simulation models for economic evaluation or comparative effectiveness of health policies or technologies, using up-to-date methods of synthesizing and reconciling evidence, and deploying advanced statistical methods of longitudinal analyses, prospective, or retrospective studies including multi-level (hierarchical) modeling, age-period-cohort analysis, non- or semi-parametric modeling, and Bayesian analysis to address burning epidemiological and health policy questions. Beside thinking about equations, I also enjoy playing guitar and running.
